The 45PPI sponge is a perfect tool to keep shrimp, small fish, and babies safe from being sucked up into the filter. Acting as a mechanical filter, the sponge will trap larger particles, while allowing water and smaller particles to pass into the filter. Regular cleaning of the sponge is recommended to prevent any blockage of water flow. Use tank water when cleaning to avoid killing beneficial bacteria that may have colonized the sponge.
This sponge can also be used to increase theheight of a layout or fill unwanted spaces in an aquascape. It can be easily cut to shape and provides a great source for beneficial bacteria within the water column.
